Building on a Solid Curriculum Framework

Wallaby Childcare offers programs that inspire learning, activities that make memories …and a customised app that keeps you in touch with it all.

Just as the structure of your child’s earliest education forms the foundation of their relationship with learning, the structure of government and industry guidelines are the foundation of our programs at Wallaby Childcare.

Our inclusive learning program is grounded in the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the state Victorian Early Years Learning Framework (VEYLDF) and exceeds National Quality Standards.

These guidelines centre our programs around 5 key outcomes:

  1. That children have a strong sense of identity
  2. That children are connected with and contribute to their world
  3. That children have a strong sense of well-being
  4. That children are confident and involved learners
  5. That children are effective communicators

Programs That Make Learning Child’s Play

As qualified early childhood educators and teaching professionals, our staff are experts in developing programs that work towards creating connected, confident and communicative learners.

Based partially around the Reggio Emilio concept of child-directed indoor-outdoor play, our programs make every child an individual learner, working at their own pace to achieve the personal learning objectives identified for them by their teachers.

While this may sound rigorous, it’s actually very simple. In every level and in every room, children are encouraged to play just as they would at home – often together with siblings. It’s just that in our “home-away-from-home” they have the benefit of a qualified professional to add learning to that play. From these moments of spontaneous child-initiated play, our staff develop opportunities for intentional teaching – independent learning occurs alongside group activities, exploration occurs inside and out, and opportunities to play together and alone occur seamlessly and naturally.

Activities That Welcome The Whole Family

We’re always looking for ways to create new experiences and consolidate big memories. Activities can be as structured as a visit from animal farm, as adventurous as a science incursion, or as creative as an art event. What they all have in common is a commitment to sparking curiosity and encouraging spontaneity.

As might be expected, families are a big part of our events and activities. In addition to the sibling play encouraged within our standard curriculum, your entire family is welcome to become involved at Wallaby Childcare. Whether it’s dropping in for story-time during lunch break or conducting a child-friendly yoga class, our parents are welcome to engage with our program and add to our activities – that’s what being part of the Wallaby family is all about!

Storypark helps parents keep track of it all

Just because you’re not with your child at childcare doesn’t mean they can’t be part of your day.

Our Storypark application keeps you in touch with everything that’s going on at the centre, providing an easy, timely and private way to communicate with us. In addition, Storypark lets us capture and share your child’s developmental milestones and everyday fun!

Storypark brings your child as close your phone, letting you take part in their day no matter where you are. And Storypark is with you forever – providing a memorable portfolio of photos, videos, stories, moments, notes and responses as a record of your child’s learning journey at Wallaby Childcare.
