We believe that a child’s early years are an important
time for the development
of social, physical, cognitive and emotional
skills, this is the time where the foundations for a love of learning
and a strong sense of self worth are acquired.
Kindergarten
All our centres offer a 4 year old kinder program for children in the
year before they commence Prep. These programs are led by our highly
professional Bachelor Trained Educators. To be eligible for these
programs children need to turn 4 years old on, or before April 30th in
that year.
At kindergarten your child will grow socially and emotionally. Their
ability to think, use and recognise language and their fine motor
skills will be developed through play, art, dance, music, movement and
interacting with others. Most importantly, your child will be learning
to become an effective learner as they develop and extend their
communication skills, build their self-confidence, learn to be
creative, and develop skills that assist them with reading, writing and
mathematics.
Belonging, being, becoming
The philosophy of the Early Years Framework is not such a great leap
from the existing Wallaby Childcare Curriculum. They both emphasise the
importance of play-based learning to engender in childhood a strong
sense of belonging to family and community. They also emphasise being
in the here and now having fun and trying new things, and becoming an
identity through learning and developing.
Learning Outcomes
To put this philosophy into action our educators will assist your
child's development through these 5 learning goals:
Learning Outcome 1 – A strong sense of identity
Learning Outcome 2 – Connections with their
world
Learning Outcome 3 – A strong sense of
well-being
Learning Outcome 4 – Confidence and
involvement in
their learning
Learning Outcome 5 – Effective communication
skills
The Framework changes are very subtle and revolve around things such as
providing children with more autonomy in choosing their toys and
activities and having more focused one-to-one learning encounters with
their educators. This allows for intentional teaching moments
throughout the day.
Each of our rooms offers a wide variety of activities
that have been planned with consideration of the age-specific and
developmental needs of your child.
A kindergarten program is provided
for the increasingly independent preschool child who needs activities
to engage their ever growing abilities.
